Mr. Patrick Mwesigwa
Mr. Patrick Mwesigwa is the Director, Technology and Licensing at Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).
Eng. Patrick Mwesigwa holds a BSc. in Electrical Engineering (Makerere University, Kampala) and a Masters in Operational Telecommunications (Coventry University, UK). He has also undertaken a number of postgraduate courses related to telecommunications and regulation over the years.
Eng. Mwesigwa worked with Uganda Posts and Telecommunications Corporation and later Uganda Telecom for over 20 years rising through the ranks to the post of Chief of Planning. During his service with Uganda Telecom he was involved in planning, construction and maintenance of transmission and switching systems around the country.
Eng. Mwesigwa joined the Uganda Communications Commission as a Technical Manager in 2001. In January 2008, he was appointed Director/Technology and Licensing. He was Acting Executive Director of UCC from January-December 2010 following the end of the contract for the then Executive Director.
A member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE), Eng. Mwesigwa has participated and presented at a number of regional and international fora on telecommunications and ICT. He was Vice-Chairman of ITU Study Group 17 (that deals with telecom security on which he represents the African Region) in 2008, and chairperson of East African Communication Organisations (EACO) in 2010.
